"A unique fly from the Canary Islands has helped shed light on one driving force behind the birth of new species, Nature magazine reports this week" news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/sci/tech/4461827.stmnews.bbc.co.uk/1/low/sci/tech/4708459.stmI saw this interesting article on the BBC news website last week and inspired by John's wonderful photography, it struck me as an interesting connection particularly as some of the images in the show are actually made in the Canary Islands. It seems there is no end to the ways we can view these images - every day seems to bring a new perspective and a wider context. Roy.

Yes , I really enjoyed making this image . The chalice lilies fall to the ground within one day of blossoming on the tree so I did a little arranging and took the shot . Out over the Atlantic we see the island of La Palma , on the shoreline we see the Canary island cactus ." The globe " picture from the show was also shot on Tenerife , this time up on Mt Teide . " Attraction" is another making use of the stark Canary Island landscape .
